Weymouth Speed Week is the oldest and longest-running speed sailing event in the world. Held annually since 1972, it has challenged sailors of a wide variety of wind-powered craft to sail as fast as they can over a distance of 500m with their speed being recorded as the average speed over that distance.
The 2013 Weymouth Speed Week ran from Saturday 12th through to Friday 18th October 2013 in Portland Harbour and was hosted by the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. The next Weymouth Speed Week will be in 2014 commencing Saturday 18th October. Start building your sailing craft now, come down to Portland Harbour in May for the test week and sail fast next October. May the winds be with you.
