Weymouth Sail Sports, who run a chandlery business from WPNSA, have very

This map depicts the parking arrangements for Weymouth Speed Week

Web site to help find
accommodation
I run a website on Portland accommodation (the largest of its kind) and was wondering
whether this would be useful information to your members for Speed Week. The site covers
Hotels, Bed and Breakfasts, Cottages, Caravan Parks and by the time Speed Week comes
around many of the best places to eat out on Portland too. I would very much appreciate a
link somewhere on your site if you think my site would be useful to them. I currently have
a windsurfing page on the site where we mention speed week (with link) as it is an event I
try and get down to myself (strictly spectating these days!) having spent 20 years myself
windsurfing in the harbour. Many thanks, Neil Lemon.
The site can be found at www.portlandholidaylet.co.uk.
SSERPANT
As many of you will know, apart from going fast, one of the major challenges at
Weymouth Speed Week is how to accurately measure many thousands of speed runs, often in
atrocious weather and visibility, and process the results. Many people have contributed to
solving this problem over the years; Robert Downhill, Joddy Chapman, Bob Spagnoletti...and
now technology has offered us GPS data logging for each individual competitor (we'd really
like real time 2km telemetry as well please!). Manfred Fuchs has developed the superb GPS
Results software which many of us use. For Speed Week we will be using an enhanced version
of this, the challenge remaining is to marry each individual run to the competitor's
personal data and the relevant wind data. Tim Daish has risen to this challenge and
developed SSerpant. If this year we can produce the day's results and get to the bar
before closing time it will be thanks to Tim!
