Towing trials with '4M'.
Alan Blundell volunteered to ride 4M whilst being towed by Fred Ball's Dory. Alan was able
to stand upright. In the lower picture it is possible to see that the entire hull is
raised above the water on the planing foils - even at the modest speed of approximately 10
knots.

This is the wide style board (260x70) that I made
just before Weymouth 99. An Excel spreadsheet was used to design the
board. It is a very simple styrofoam and glass construction, but very effective in light
winds with a big sail. It is possible to sail at 20 knots in 10 knots of wind. Total cost
was around £250. |
